Eric shot

Eric L’Ecuyer has spent the last 25 years as an artist. After graduating with a degree in film, he went on to become a Lighting Designer and Technical Director for a theater company. He spent 11 years studying stage lighting, acting and performance. He then transitioned into the world of graphic design and started working for an ad agency as a designer which gave him the opportunity to art-direct many photo shoots.

He then focused his training on creative imagery doing freelance design work and photography by working full time for Crabtree & Evelyn, LTD as photographer/designer with their in-house creative team for almost 10 years.

He now co-owns Union St. Studio in Worcester, MA where he shoots commercial, product, creative portraiture and fine art.

His many years of performance, lighting and design are translated into his images.

Eric’s artistic aesthetic is iconic and remarkable. He uses his artistic background in lighting and timing in such a way that he captures the unexpected and unusual aspects of his subjects. His sense of lighting and atmosphere can at times furnish a veracity and grittiness that one would not typically expect to find in artistic portraiture; and he elicits both beauty and the refractory in subjects that others might not grace with a second glance. Equally, Eric’s portraiture can be refined and graceful in aesthetic and appeal, capturing the ephemeral essence of his subjects. Eric’s vision and follow-through are both unique and wonderfully refreshing.  He constantly watches the world using his inquisitive nature and seeks new ways of envisioning and understanding the world that might otherwise go unnoticed without the intensity of his observant nature.

Eric shoots with Canon digital gear.

What have others said about Eric

"I've known Eric for nearly 20 years and am always amazed by his creativity, his eye for detail, and the way he is able to capture just the right moment. I also love that he becomes part of the team which can include everyone from the agency, to the client, to the stylists, to the subjects he's shooting. What's most important about working with Eric, is that he understands his photographs needs to work. Having been a designer at one time himself, he knows the importance of taking a shot that will work in the layout, convey the proper brand image, and further the concept. But, the best part about working with Eric, is that he sets a great tone of fun, professionalism, and a little weirdness (I mean that in only the best way). "

"Eric L'Ecuyer never fails to bring a creative and insightful eye to challenging projects, and he has long been a valuable resource to me and my clients. When I needed to make a line of industrial foot pedals exciting, he produced photos that made them look as sexy as race cars. He is easy to work with and always delivers what he has promised - and more - on time. I have turned to him for creative help many times over the last 15 years, and I highly recommend that you do, too! "
